Gable Vents

Older homes have existing gable vents, which are rectangular-shaped ones on the ends of homes. Some of these vents, though, are round or half-round. Their purpose is to cross-ventilate when the wind is blowing in one direction, which is the direction the air will pull. This is the same basic process as the ridge and soffit venting discussed in a previous blog.
Sometimes, gable vents may not secure enough ventilation. We investigate such a problem by inspecting the attic and talking with the homeowner about the age and wear of their current roof. By inspecting the attic we look for signs of moisture and damage; the life-span of the roof is very helpful to know as well.
