Gutter Capping and Repairs in Danvers, MA

Challenge

Our client was having issues with leaf build-up in their gutters, as well as a leakage problem in sections of the gutter system. We sent out a specialist to inspect the gutter system and write a full estimate.

The image shows a gray asphalt shingle roof meeting a light blue siding wall. Leaves are collected in a roof gutter below, suggesting need for maintenance.

Solution

After arriving at the job site, our foreman assessed the gutters and realized that there were a few issues related to the installation of the gutters that needed to be addressed in order to control the leakage problem. First, our crew needed to add more gutter hangers and screws on a few sections of the home to properly secure the gutters. After that, it was determined that the entire rear porch gutter system on the C-side of the house needed to be removed, reinstalled and repitched to address the leakage.

Once that was complete, our foreman chose a proactive approach to controlling the leakage problem, which could have caused rot as it dripped behind the gutters and into the fascia and soffit. After replacing the rear porch gutter system underneath the client’s skylight on the B-side of the home, our foreman added a drip-edge to roof over the new gutters to control any leakage that had been dripping behind into the fascia and potentially causing rot issues.

In addition to replacing the gutter system to address the leak, there was a downspout in the gutter system that was hitting the bottom of the gutter it was draining into from above, which needed to be cut back to help reduce splash in the gutters. After our foreman cut the gutter back and nailed down a lifted roof shingle that he noticed during the job, he got to work on the leaf relief system which the client wanted in all the gutters of the home. First, our foreman cleaned out all of the gutters and then installed the leaf protection system into 9 different gutters positioned around the home. After that was complete, some minor caulking was done where applicable to continue the proactive approach to controlling any rot issues that may have arose from the previously leaky gutters. Finally, the miters on the gutters were reset to keep the system sealed and secured.
