September Snowfall: Tips to Prepare for a Rough Winter

The Weather Channel published a report about a second round of summer snow in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. A few days later, The Weather Channel reported:

September snow blanketed parts of Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, northern Colorado and western Nebraska, downing trees and set early snow records in some locations, 11 days before summer officially ends. Thursday morning brought the earliest measurable snow on record to Rapid City, South Dakota, where 1.6 inches was officially measured at the National Weather Service office.

The snowfalls that happened in Alberta, Canada, South Dakota, and other parts of the country reflect the forecast of the Farmer’s Almanac, which says that the U.S. may experience a rough winter. So, we want to remind you to prepare for winter as early as you can.

As your first line of defense, ensure your roofing in Peabody MA is sturdy enough to withstand the elements and avoid costly repairs. Here are some tips:

1. Inspect Your Roof for Damages

Minor issues can turn to major ones quickly during extreme weather conditions. Fall is the best time to check your roof for problems you may not know exist. A&A Services can get up on your roof and assess its structural integrity.

2. Use High Quality Materials for Repairs or Replacements

If you need to repair or replace your roof, make sure to use high quality products. Don’t scrimp on the materials just so you can save a few hundred dollars. When you use low quality products, you’ll be spending more in the future, as they might not last long and cause bigger problems. This doesn’t mean, however, that you have to spend a fortune.

With A&A Services, you can save $500 on a new roof. Simply buy a CertainTeed roof from us before December 31, 2014. CertainTeed received one of the highest ratings on the roofing tests performed by Consumer Reports. You can be sure that you’re investing in a high quality product for your home.

3. Have Additional Insulation in the Attic

Formation of ice dams are a common problem during winter. You can avoid them by having an additional layer of insulation in the attic. The extra insulation prevents the formation of ice dams, which can cause water to leak into your house.

With enough preparation, you don’t have to worry about the coming winter. Consult our Peabody roofing specialists to know how you can protect your house while saving on roof repair and replacement.

I chose A&A Services for a roof replacement. Rick came out to provide the initial estimate and from then on guided me through the whole process. He was great to work with. No pressure at any time and I was notified every step of the way. No surprises. Aurel and the roofing crew were great too! My roof looks beautiful and more importantly, my house is dry inside! Highly recommend!!

A&A did a very nice job at my house replacing the gutters and downspouts and the main roof and many smaller ones and also the garage roof. They came on time, did a professional job and cleaned up nice when the project was complete. I would definitely use them again.
